When Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, was elected to the Chair of Peter, he would become the first Pope from our side of the Atlantic. Many have commented that his Latin American heritage, even more than his Jesuit background, is key to understanding his papacy. In these two Tuesday sessions, Father Joe Serano will attempt a wide angle look at the witness and teaching of Pope Francis as he approaches his fifth anniversary. In particular, we will look at highlights from three documents: Joy of the Gospel, Joy of Love and his encyclical on “caring for mother earth”. There will be plenty of room for comments, questions and discussion.
