Father Henry Miroslav Jordanek will share his experience from two deployments in Afghanistan. He spent 5 months in Province Badakshan in 2007 and 8 months in province Logar in 2009. As a chaplain for the Provincial Reconstruction Team, he participated in the renewal and humanitarian support of the poorest regions in this area. His presentation will include pictures of the wonderful natural beauty of Afghanistan and stories about the culture, reconstruction and life there, as well as about being a pastor for soldiers and their families. Father Henry is a Norbertine from Strahov Abbey in Prague and served 8 years in the military. He was awarded two medals from the U.S. Army for the spiritual care he provided to American soldiers. While serving as Chaplain at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital and doing some continuing education, Fr. Henry is currently living here at Daylesford Abbey.
